The amount you are allowed to borrow on a mortgage is based on numerous factors, some of which include, overall household income and monthly debt payments, the level of deposit that you have and also the value of the property. 

Your credit score and any recent loan applications will also be factored into your lender's calculations of what kind level of risk you are.  

Each lender has a different lending criteria and this will determine how much you can borrow.
